Student Charette Design Workshop
HSR Hochschule fuer Technik Rapperswil, University of Applied Sciences is proud to initiate this year’s Student Charette at the IFLA World Congress. HSR is a leading institution in landscape architecture and the only university offering a Bachelor’s degree in this domain in German speaking Switzerland.
Topic
The transformation of the historical Gruenfels site in Rapperswil-Jona within the context of urbanization, developing infrastructure and the need for recreation.
Brief
The Charette is open for undergraduate or master students of landscape architecture and the program will be directed by a team of Swiss professors. In the Charette the students will be asked to analyze the site and develop open space concepts concerning the historical Gruenfels site. The site chosen is about 1 hectare and has recently been affected by city growth and merging towns. Current plans surrounding the area involve the redesigning of the train station and the development of the nearby quarter. The aim is to transform the site into a new urban park.
Fee
There is no registration fee for the Student Charette.
Board, accommodation, activities and transportation from the program venue to the site during participation of the Student Charette (22-24 June) will be covered by the organizer. All other charges and travel costs to Rapperswil are the responsibility of the entrants.

Requirements for Applicants
Selected entrants are automatically registered for the ELASA trip following the Charette and are required to pay the one-time fee of 220 Euros. Please find further information at http://switzerland2011.elasa.org.

All applicants are required to fill out a registration form at
www.hsr.ch/charette and upload their reference project before April 18, 2011.

- Currently enrolled undergraduate or master students of a landscape architectural program
- An application form with CV and one design project as reference
- English fluency for communication and presentation
- 25 students will be selected by the IFLA Student Charette Committee
- The entrants will be confirmed by email
