Student Competition:Otto-Linne Prize 2011

After its successful reinstatement in 2009,the igs (International Garden Show) 2013 and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg,Germany are once again hosting the Otto-Linne Prize for urban landscape architecture in February 2011.
The challenge for the year 2011 questions the threshold of classical landscape architecture, and addresses a topic that affects open space planning, urban design, architecture, and traffic planning issues alike. The competition should encourage the candidates to tackle the principles and potential prospects of urban landscape architecture. With the aid of bold images and controversial approaches, the treatment of the proposed space in Hamburg,Germany should trigger discussion in the professionals world.
The competition area in Hamburg city includes the Bille estuary in the upper harbour of the Elbe and the adjoining areas.
Those eligible to take part are students and young graduates (up to 39 years old) of landscape architecture. Interdisciplinary collaboration (town planning, architecture, traffic planning, sociology, art and literature, etc) is recommended. The task is suitable for semester work or as a study project.
